Warren Rudman’s passion for public service was clear to anyone who met him. He was a tenacious prosecutor, a courageous combat infantry commander, and a devoted Senator. He knew as much about the federal budget as anyone who ever served in this town – and it was always a privilege to work with him, and learn from him. I was proud to call him a close personal friend and confidant. He never let politics stand in the way of doing what was right, and that’s why he had the absolute respect of Republicans and Democrats alike. Today, our thoughts and prayers are with all of Warren’s family and friends.

No habrá más Led Zeppelin, no hay planes de que lo haya.</P><P>Mensch comentó: "Led Zeppelin se acabó. Si no los vieron en el 2007, se los perdieron. Delivery of Transthyretin (TTR) across the Blood Brain Barrier as a Treatment for Alzheimer's Disease
The invention describes products and methods of treating Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease is characterized by the formation of amyloid plaques and tangles in areas of the brain critical for learning and memory. The products are a transthyretin and other blood brain barrier impermeable proteins transformed into blood brain barrier permeable forms by the coupling of an Inter-Cellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1) targeting agent. Transthyretin binds to, and inhibits amyloid protein from forming plaque deposits. Deposition of amyloid is thought to underlie the disease pathology of Alzheimer's. Thus, this invention treats Alzheimer's by inhibiting the formation of amyloid plaques, which normally would result in amyloid plaque formation, inflammation, and neuronal cell death.

Emily Chew Joins ARVO Board of Trustees
Dr. Emily Chew was recently elected to the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Board of Trustees. She will serve as a Clinical/Epidemiologic Research Trustee. The board is comprised of elected members from ARVO's 13 scientific sections along with elected and trustee-appointed officers. It sets the strategic direction for ARVO and has the final responsibility and authority for all actions and policies that are recommended or adopted by standing and special committees, advisory councils and representatives to professional and governmental organizations, agents and employees.
